Event Guide

The practical reference for taking part in BYTEATHON.

Eligibility

College level and above. Teams may have 1–4 members.

Round 1 registration fee: ₹400 per team.

Round 1

  • Online
  • Submission deadline: September 25
  • Five curated problem statements plus Open Innovation
  • PPT and demo video required
  • Prototype optional

Round 2

  • October 15–16
  • Offline at NICHE, Kanyakumari
  • Thirty selected teams
  • New problem statement revealed at the event
  • 24-hour hackathon
  • Food and accommodation provided free for selected teams
  • Certificates provided

Submission

Round 1 evaluates your proposed approach. Submit the required PPT and demo video by September 25; a complete system is not required at this stage.

PPT guidance

10–12 slides. Suggested structure:

  1. Solution name, team details and problem statement code
  2. Problem understanding
  3. Existing approaches and gaps
  4. Proposed solution
  5. How it works
  6. Technical approach
  7. Innovation and differentiation
  8. Feasibility and limitations
  9. Real-world use cases and usability
  10. Validation, expected impact and success measures
  11. Optional prototype/screenshots/results
  12. Optional implementation roadmap and references

Teams may combine related topics while remaining within 10–12 slides.

Video guidance

Duration: 3–5 minutes. Maximum: 5 minutes.

  • Identify the selected problem and its code
  • Explain the proposed solution
  • Explain how it works
  • Show innovation and differentiation
  • Discuss feasibility and usability
  • Present actual use cases and capabilities
  • Demonstrate the prototype if one exists

Selection process

  1. 01Initial screening for requirements and relevance

  3. 03Final selection by mentors and the organizing technical team

Rejected submissions receive a review check.

Judging rubric

A prototype does not receive an automatic bonus. Its demonstrated quality can strengthen relevant evidence and feasibility scores.

Round 1 submissions close on September 25. Round 2 runs October 15–16.

A detailed hour-by-hour schedule has not been announced.

Venue and provisions

Round 2 is held offline at NICHE, Kanyakumari. Food and accommodation are provided free for selected teams, and certificates are provided.

Internship opportunities are discretionary and not guaranteed. Prize amounts will be announced later.

Department of CSE, NICHE, Kanyakumari. Mentors will include college professors and industry experts. Judges are expected to include industry experts and investors.
